and I’m about to teach you the history of my Marvel character, the Scarlet Witch!
지금부터 여러분께 제가 연기한 마블 캐릭터, ‘스칼렛 위치'의 역사에 대해 설명해 드리려고 해요!
Scarlet Witch first appeared in X-men number four in May of 1964,
스칼렛 위치는 1964년 5월, ‘엑스맨 4호’를 통해 처음 모습을 드러냈는데요
where she and her brother Quicksilver
스칼렛 위치와 그녀의 쌍둥이 오빠 퀵실버는
were part of the brotherhood of evil mutants.
악랄한 뮤턴트(돌연변이) 남매로 등장하죠.
That’s right. She started out as a villain.
네 맞아요. 스칼렛은 빌런(악당)으로 데뷔했죠
Her power is to tap into the mystic powers of the universe,
스칼렛은 우주의 신비한 힘을 사용할 수 있는 능력을 가졌는데
creating reality disrupting chaos.
이를 통해 현실세계를 혼란에 빠트릴 수 있어요
Essentially, she can manipulate cosmic probability.
본질적으로 그녀는 장대한 가능성을 조작할 수 있는 거죠
Scarlet Witch then joined the Avengers a year later
그로부터 1년 뒤, 스칼렛 위치는 어벤저스에 합류합니다.
in Avengers number 16th.
‘어벤져스 16호’에서 말이죠
And spent the next bunch of years kicking butt with them.
그 후 수년간 어벤져스 맴버들과 악당들을 물리치죠
In 1975, she met the Vision, a humanoid robot.
1975년에 스칼렛은 휴머노이드 로봇 비전을 만나게 되고
She fell in love, got married
사랑에 빠져 결혼을 하게 되죠.
and all that lovey-dovey stuff that happens between a mutant and the Android of her dreams.
그렇게 그녀가 꿈에 그리던 안드로이드와 알콩달콩한 시간을 보내게 됩니다
In September of 1979, bombshell dropped.
그런데1979년 9월, 충격적인 사실이 밝혀집니다
Scarlet Witch found out that her dad was none other than notorious X-men villain Magneto.
스칼렛 위치는 자신의 아버지가 다름 아닌 엑스맨 최악의 빌런으로 악명 높은 매그니토임을 알게 된 거죠
In ‘The Vision and the Scarlet Witch Volume two number three,’
‘비전과 스칼렛 위치 Vol. 2 3호’에서
Scarlet and the Vision found out it was impossible for human and an Android to conceive
스칼렛과 비전은 인간과 안드로이드 사이에 아이를 갖는 건 불가능하다는 사실을 알게 되는데요
so Scarlet Witch had her very own Marvel Immaculate conception
그리하여 마블판 스칼렛 위치의 ‘무원죄 잉태설’이 등장하게 되죠.
she’s magic to make herself pregnant and gave birth to twin boys.
그녀는 마법의 힘으로 자신을 임신시켜 쌍둥이 형제를 낳습니다

The Vision had his memory wiped.
그 후 비전은 기억을 잃게 되고
He and Scarlet got a divorce,
비전과 스칼렛은 이혼하게 됩니다.
and the twins turned out to be shards of the demon Mephisto.
그리고 쌍둥이 형제는 악마 메피스토의 영혼이라는 사실이 밝혀지죠.
In Avengers disassembled,

Scarlet Witch then suffered a full-blown mental breakdown
스칼렛 위치는 멘붕이 오면서 정신적으로 쇠약해져
and attacked the Avengers.
어벤져스를 공격하게 되죠
Ant-man, Hawkeye and the Vision all killed,
이때 앤트맨과 호크아이 그리고 비전이 모두 죽임을 당해요
Scarlett’s rampage finally ended when she was put into a trance by Dr. Strange.
스칼렛의 광분은 닥터 스트레인지의 최면술에 의해 마침내 막을 내리게 돼요

The Avengers and X-men decided she was too dangerous to live
어벤져스와 엑스맨은 스칼렛 위치를 살려 두기에는 너무 위험하다고 판단하는데
and in an act of self-preservation,
이로 인해 그녀는 자신을 보호하고자
in House of M,
‘하우스 오브 M’에서
Scarlet Witch created a new reality where
스칼렛 위치는 새로운 세상을 만들어 내는데
Mutants were the majority and Magneto was the ruler.
이 세계는 매그니토가 지배하는 뮤턴트들의 세상이었죠
But this too backfired
하지만 이는 역효과를 불러 일으키고
and Scarlet Witch was forced to take action,
스칼렛 위치는 다음과 같은 행동을 취하게 되는데,
whispering the words
이렇게 속삭이죠
“No more Mutants..”
뮤턴트는 이제 그만..
causing over 90% of Mutants to lose their powers.

There was a ton of death,
수많은 뮤턴트들이 죽게 되고,
Scarlet Witch fled to Wundagore Mountain.
스칼렛 위치는 원더고어 마운틴으로 도피합니다.
disappearing from the world view.
모두의 눈을 피해서 말이죠.
seven years later, she started on her path to redemption
7년 뒤 스칼렛은 구원의 길에 나서고
and in Avengers the Children’s crusade number nine,
‘어벤져스: 칠드런스 크루세이드 9호’에서
Scarlet was a key in defeating one of Marvel’s all-time greatest villains, Doctor Doom.
스칼렛은 마블 역사상 최악의 빌런 중 한 명인 닥터 둠을 물리치는데 결정적인 역할을 하게 됩니다.
And in Avengers vs. X-men,
‘어벤져스 vs. 엑스맨’에서
she joined the Avengers to take down the X-men
스칼렛은 어벤져스에 합류하여 엑스맨을 제압하고
even helping eliminate the Phoenix, an ancient cosmic entity.
나아가 고대 우주의 독립체인 피닉스를 제거하는데도 도움을 주죠.
She co-founded the Avengers unity division in Uncanny Avengers
또 ‘언캐니 어벤져스’에서는 어벤져스 연합팀을 출범시키는데 일조합니다.
then in a huge shock, Scarlet Witch found out that she wasn’t born a mutant.
한 편 이맘때쯤 스칼렛 위치는 자신이 뮤턴트 태생이 아니었다는 충격적인 사실을 알게 되는데요
It turns out that magneto is not her or quicksilver’s real father anyway.
다시 말해 매그니토가 자신과 퀵실버의 친아버지가 아닌 것으로 밝혀진 거죠.
