기술과 인문학의 교차점

So, I’ve said this before.

제가 전에도 언급한 바 있지만

I thought it was worth repeating.

또 한 번 말씀드려도 되겠다는 생각이 들었습니다

It’s in Apple’s DNA

애플의 DNA에는

that technology alone is not enough.

단지 기술 만으로는 부족하다는 인식이 각인되어 있습니다

That it’s technology married with liberal arts.

이는 기술과 인문학이 결합해야 한다는 말인데요

married with the humanities

인문학과 결합을 해야만

that yields us the result that makes our heart sing.

우리의 마음을 움직일 수 있는 결과를 내놓을 수 있습니다

And nowhere is that more true than in these in post-PC devices.

그리고 이러한 PC시대 이후에 등장한 기기들일수록 이러한 가치에 더욱 부합하는데요

And a lot of folks in this tablet market are rushing in

지금 태블릿 시장에 많은 사람들이 몰려들고 있죠

and they’re looking at this as the next PC.

이들은 태블릿을 차세대 PC로 보고 있습니다

The hardware and the software done by different companies

하드웨어와 소프트웨어를 각기 다른 회사에서 만들고

and they’re talking about speeds and feeds

속도와 기능에 대해서만 떠들고 있는 게

just like they did with PCs.

마치 PC를 만들던 때와 똑같은 것 같습니다

And our experience and every bone in our body says,

그러나 그간 우리의 경험과 몸의 모든 뼈마디들은 이런 반응을 보입니다

that that is not the right approach to this.

그건 올바른 접근이 아니라고

That these are post PC devices

이러한 제품들은 차세대 PC 제품들로

that need to be even easier to use than a PC

PC보다 훨씬 사용이 쉬워야 하며

that need to be even more intuitive than a PC.

PC보다 훨씬 직관적이어야 한다고 말입니다

And where the software and the hardware and the applications

또한 소프트웨어와 하드웨어 그리고 애플리케이션이

need to intertwine in an even more seamless way than they do on a PC.

PC에서보다 더 매끄럽게 서로 어우러질 필요가 있다고 말입니다

And we think we’re on the right track with this.

이러한 측면에서 저희는 지금 제대로 가고 있는 것 같습니다

We think we have the right architecture

애초에 설계를 올바르게 했다고 보거든요

not just in silicon

비단 실리콘뿐만이 아닌

but in the organization to build these kinds of products.

이러한 제품을 생산해내는 조직 차원에서까지 말입니다

And so I think we stand a pretty good chance at being pretty competitive in this market,

그래서 저는 태블릿 시장에서 저희가 꽤 괜찮은 경쟁력을 가지고 있다고 생각합니다

and I hope that what you’ve seen today

gives you a pretty good feel for that.
