When I started off in Chicago as an artist, as a..
제가 시카고에서 아티스트로 활동을 시작했을 때..
I’m a visual artist.
전 원래 시각 예술가입니다
I went to art school,
예술 대학을 나왔거든요
and I decided to start doing music
그런데 제가 음악을 하려고 하니
and people said it wouldn’t work out
사람들이 안 될 거라고 하더군요
and then I started producing and selling beats.

and I started selling beats to Jay-Z, Roc-A-Fella,
그러다가 Roc-A-Fella의 Jay-Z에게 비트를 팔기 시작했고
and that started going well.
점점 잘 풀리기 시작했어요
And I said I wanted to rap,
그러다가 제가 랩을 하고 싶다고 하니
and people said that wasn’t gonna work.
사람들이 또 안 될 거라고 하더군요
They had this term ‘producer rapper’
‘프로듀서 래퍼’라는 말이 있는데
It basically meant you..
무슨 말인가 하니..
wouldn’t rap as good as the real rappers.
저는 진짜 래퍼들처럼 랩을 못할 거라는 말이더군요
And you know, that started working out,
그런데 래퍼로도 잘 풀리기 시작했고
and then I said I wanted to design clothes
다음으로는 옷을 디자인하고 싶어 했더니
and then that started working out.
그것마저도 잘 풀리기 시작했죠
I get a lot of backlash for comparing myself to Steve Jobs,
제 자신을 스티브 잡스와 비교한 것 때문에 엄청난 반발을 샀습니다
but, you know, that’s my dream, and that’s my...
하지만 그건.. 제 꿈이거든요.. 잡스는 제..
uh.. one of my idols.
우상 중 한 명이니까요
Like Jesus Christ, my dad and Steve Jobs and stuff are, like, my idols,

and I want to be like that one day.

I’ve dedicated the past 10 years of my life to this.

I spent 80 percent of my time working on this

and 20 percent of my time working on music.

I put in the 10,000 hours.

No one can say I cannot design or understand how to design a guy’s sneaker.

When I was in 4th grade,

I was drawing Jordans
조던 운동화를 그렸으니까요
when my mama couldn’t afford them
엄마가 사주실 형편이 안 되셨는데도
I was drawin’ those Jordans.
전 조던 운동화를 그리고 있었어요
Getting kicked out of class for drawin’ em.
그걸 그린다고 반에서 쫓겨나기까지 하면서 말입니다
I understand about quality.
저도 퀄리티에 대해 잘 알고 있습니다
I understand about fabrics.
소재에 대해서도 잘 알고 있구요
I spent 10,000 hours at this.

하워드 휴스, 데이빗 스턴,
Michelangelo, da Vinci, Jesus, whatever it is,
미켈란젤로, 다빈치, 예수, 누가 됐건 이들과 비교하는 건
